With today’s challenging economy, veterinarians sometimes find that pets are unable to receive the care that they need most, due to the financial situation of their family or owner. One of the most heart-wrenching parts of our job as veterinary professionals is to see a pet euthanized or go untreated due to financial constraints.

At Loving Care Animal Hospital, we have set up our own Convalescent Fund to specifically assist with these situations. By utilizing charitable donations from our hospital, staff, and caring clients, we have been able to accumulate a fund to assist several of our patients in receiving the care that they needed when they were otherwise unable to afford it.

If you are interested in contributing to our Convalescent Fund, feel free to contact us here, or mention this to us directly when visiting our animal hospital.

An additional charitable fund that is near and dear to our hearts was set up by Dr. Richard when he first purchased the practice. Being the sole veterinary office to care for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and Largo Police Department’s K9 Units, we have come to have a special relationship with the handlers and K9 Officers who make sacrifices each and every day to make our community a safer place. Once K9 Officers retire from their units, their handlers become solely responsible for their medical care. Because these dogs have worked so hard throughout their careers, many develop expensive medical problems. In order to give back to the officers that give so much to us and to ensure they receive the ongoing care they deserve, we provide Lifetime Care to Retired K9 Officers of any police agency absolutely Free of Charge. We urge all of our friends and clients to thank these heroes by donating to charities that support them.

However, our charitable funds are limited in scope and size. Our colleagues at Blue Pearl Veterinary Specialists in Tampa, Florida have created an amazing charity known as Frankie’s Friends.

Frankie’s Friends is a nationally recognized animal fund, which uses the charitable donations to help subsidize care for owners who cannot afford their pets medical bills, to help cure canine Lymphosarcoma, and to help train Firefighters, Police Officers, and Military personnel on how to care for their working dogs in case of an emergency. This is especially close to our hearts at Loving Care Animal Hospital, because of our own personal relationship with Police Officers.
